Greetings Cards
UNICEF's first greetings card was a painting by seven-year-old Jitka Samkova, whose village in Czechoslovakia received UNICEF emergency assistance in the form of food and medicine following World War II. Jitka sent UNICEF her painting as a way of thanking UNICEF. The cards' popularity inspired a global sales operation generating significant revenue to help UNICEF save and protect the world's most vulnerable children.
